A painter and a photographer, Jean-Pierre Rousset is a dual citizen USA/France whose work has been recently exhibited in New York, Paris, Australia, and Japan.

He works alternately in Portland, Maine (USA) and Hendaye (Southern France). He began drawing and painting at the age of 10 with a first solo show at 15.

His current approach is based on an evolution of his experience as a set designer and set painter for TV and film in Paris. His "Go to Effect" transparent work allows him to move smoothly between abstract and figurative ways. He also studied in Provence with a master painter who taught him how to free his gesture and mind in painting. In 2017 he is invited to show at the XI Florence Biennale in Italy.

He is an alpinist who climbed all around the world.

His work is haunted by the incompatibility between the wild, natural world and our current way of life, based on unlimited economic growth in a finished world.
